As most of you have read in my previous posts, I have had a problem with my bike stumbling or even dying taking-off from a stop. As of last night, my local H-D dealer service writer said that numerous items were looked at per H-D Tech but nothing was solving the problem. The dealer took off the ECM and sent it to H-D for inspection. One was sent back to the dealer but they noted it was not the original and had a different part number...
The story I am now being told is that H-D Tech recognizes that some 2002 EFI bikes (maybe just FLHTCI's, not sure at this point) have had this exact problem. The replacement ECM is a modified or improved part and I will need to let H-D Tech how the part is performing. I was told that in the next 30 days or so the part will be available to the dealers and there will be an upcoming service bulletin regarding this problem.
I pick up the bike tonight but due to rain I won't be able to ride any length to determine if the bike is actually fixed; a service tech and the service manager have ridden the bike after the ECM replacement and it didn't stumble or die. Both had ridden the bike during this last repair attempt and both had the bike act up while riding around town, so only time and a few miles will tell...
I hope the information the service writer gave me is accurate and helpful to someone else down the road...
