Thinking of having a fat 200/250 rear tyre conversion done to my spanking new night train, since it's gonna cost an arm and a leg I'd be interested to hear the experiences of people who has already done this, how will it affect handling etc. My plan is not to merely have a poser bike but one I can comfortly use in all situations.
Cheers, Henrik

From what I've heard, and I have no actual experience with wide tires myself, is they get very little tread life. Like not even half. And the more rubber, the more $$$.

Henrik I have a 240 and see no difference in the ride other than is rides smoother. I used the Custom Valley kit and done it all myself and it was easy. And I had a 150 on it before that cost $219.00 and the 240 only cost $215.00 mounted and balanced. And I have put about 2500 miles on the tire and it still look new. And it is ironic that mine was a train also.

I am considering this also but just cannot get over the cost. You can just about buy a friggin frame for the same cost!

How much did the Custom Valley kit cost you?

Do most of these use the same tranny kit?
