I have a 1988 FLTC with 65k miles I bought this past spring. The rear rocker cover leaked and I replaced gaskets and the top cover because the original was warped. I could never get it to stop.

This weekend I install S&S 2 piece rocker covers and the rear still leaks. I looks like it is coming out from under the rocker cover, I know the gaskets where lined up and all the o-rings are in place.

Any suggestions?

Make sure it isn't your push rod tube leaking. A leak there can fly all around and it can be hard to tell where it's coming from. Try some aviation gasket stuff from NAPA. Coat the gaskets when you put it all together. Make sure your breather tube isn't plugged or kinked, although that would be pretty strange. I've heard that breather gear timing can effect things, but I have never had any trouble with it.

I've always found it best to clean all the oil off, then start the bike and watch with a flashlight or big shop light and see where the oil comes from. You might have to rev it to 2-3K and leave it there until you see oil coming out. If you're sure it's coming from the rocker/head junction, then I'd do the aviation gasket maker stuff to it.

How did you tighten the lower box. Sometimes the lifters dont bleed down fast enough and it can give a false tq reading....Just a thought as i alway tighten to spec and let it sit for about 15 minutes and recheck before going any further. Also make sure the cyl you are working on has both valves closed.

I have adjustable lifters.
