1984 FXRT Fairing

Can anyone advise what to do with all the ground connections on an original 1984 FXRT fairing? I figure they go on the studs for the headlight but do they go on before it's installed on the bracket or behind the nut when bolted to the bracket? Everything's been powder coated and I want make sure I've got a good ground.

Any help is greatly appreciated. This has been a basket case project and figuring out the wiring in the fairing has been costing me a lot of extra money at the liquor store ;-)

Gonna get worser if ya powder coated... Need to put in the time for All Grounds...Period.
Concur,, powder coat is not conductive, and hard enough to prevent the star washers from .asking it to grouns.. iirc, each instrument has it's own ground, so any ground surfaces need to be bare metal, to insure a good ground... if grounds are not done as need be,, you will have all sorts of gremlins...
Also, iirc, the. Faring grounds to the top tree, and the top tree grounds near the neck on the right side..
Lastly the powertrain has 2 grounds, one being the negative battery cable, and a second strap ground from a lower inner primary bolt directly to the frame..

Thanks guys. The ground situation is easy enough to clean up. My question is, do the grounds go in between the headlight bucket and fairing bracket or behind the nuts for the fairing after its mounted to the bracket.
also the ground strap at the primary may be rotten from age...mine was...use auto store batt cable

The ground strap looks pretty good...
