Update!
I rechecked my spark and now I have none. I checked the voltage on the coil and I have 13 V on the front and the real lugs. I have the white wire on the front + and pink on the rear - but no spark. I put a new coil on and new spark plug wires and new plugs still no spark. I put a new on/off switch on and no spark.
Regarding the rewire I am using the moto gadget unit and I am attaching the wiring diagram I used to wire the bike.
What ignition module do you have? That wiring diagram is really only good for the ignition module if you have that exact one.
Having done a few now you have to adapt the wiring to suit the module you are using.
Doesn't matter if it is a nosecone ignition or a timing plate with an external ignition it has to be wired up correctly.

Also that wiring diagram has a problem that someone has not told you about the run/stop switch now works in reverse. It needs to be off to run and on run to stop the bike.
There is a work around for it but check that first.

Here is one modified for the run stop switch to work correctly and the Dyna 2000i ignition

Heat is an admitted issue to electronics.
One needs to measure the temps where any ign unit is placed.
I have had one in for over 5 years on a hipo engine.
BUT
I have heat tape on the exhaust that runs under the cone
They also make a unit afaik that installs the electronic part outside the cone.
Went though 2 DTT's and both failed but Dyna 2000i is now a few years old and same motor and same exhaust.
Heat and electronics don't mix but cheap components also add to the mix

DTT readily admits heat will kill the unit.
AS stated one has to know what the temps are or the prescribed instructions for most anything.
To ignore them is to have problems. (with anything)
If my temps did get too high I would get the stand-alone unit that mounts elsewhere.
Spark plug, oil temps , head temps should be noted once in awhile
If we have a performance bike we should have the AFR unit installed as part of the system or we are just guessing at a lot of different things.
Lean mixes will cause high temps as retarded timing will.
Everyone should invest in a quality heat temp gun as part of their tool kit
I have all that AFR meter and infra red heat gun I still won't use a DTT as you are missing my point I have had 2 fail which DTT blamed on heat BUT the motor runs no hotter than a stocker and the Dyna 2000i lives there very comfortably with no problems. Regardless of everything you are stating explain why 2 failed and got blamed on heat when the bike runs as cool if not cooler than a stocker and the Dyna 2000i works fine and has done for nearly 4 years now. I used to like DTT and used quite few external units on twin cams and a lot of them are still running fine BUT I will not use their internal units ever again after the run around I got when 2 failed within 3 months of each other and they refused warranty.
