I noticed on my new 2011 Ultra 103 that the oil pressure is running at 60 psi. On cold start up it will also hit 60 psi. After running the oil pressure will be at 35-40 at idle. When the RPM's are at about 2000 the oil pressure is again at 60. I'm wondering is this something new with Harley on the 103. All the older ones the oil pressure was around 32 when over 2000 RPM's?

Oil pressure

Do not know 100% for sure but that doesn't sound right....
My bike pins the gauge when cold, comes down when warmed up though. I would guess you have a bad gauge/sender??

Agree with others...much higher than normal. Take it to the dealer and at least have them document it. They may not do anything but at least it'll be recorded in case there's a problem down the road.

Redline for one, there may be others.

I figure a bad guage or sender. All is like a big step higher that oughte to be. For no reason.
for a first check.
Then relief valve sticking.
Oil pressure pickup is after the relief valve which is right at the pump really. So at least you are getting lots of oil.
Course other things like any restriction at the filter, or oil cooler, etc could add to oil pressure if the relief valve is sticking close. Goes all through those things before going back into the engine.

Biesley spring
Mine runs at startup 58#. Then lowers as the engine warms to more normal levels, but always higher then stock. Idle arounf 15#. Cruising about 38-40.

Amsoil 20-50 in the Winter
Redline 20-60 in the Summer

Biesley's instructions, and or recommendations, is to polish the oil pressure relief plug with Emery clouth and make sure smooth operation.

I figure mine is set at 58 cause only goes that high when cold. Reguardless of which oil.

You could try running a 20W60 oil and see if it helps. That's what I run in my 09. All Harley's are noisy, so most likely what you hear is normal.
