Ride an '07 Night Rod Special. It's a fantastic bike. Head turner everywhere. Something about being on a cruiser with giddy-up and go. I like the clamshell ergos... feet and hands forward. When at speed I like leaning forwards into the wind versus upright and hanging on, but many opt to swap out the bars for something more upright. The short suspension travel can deliver a firm ride. My only wish for the bike is a six versus five speed transmission. I find myself looking for another gear above 75mph. That said, the tallish gearing will take you up to 130mph+.

Otherwise, hold on tight with this bike. It goes and goes. This is my second V-Rod the past six years. Zero reliability issues or problems. Many smiles.

As an exhaust option for the '09 you could consider what I did... the Supertrapp Fatshot slip-ons. They work on the '09's...

Would get them again without hesitation. A sweet low and deep snarl that isn't harsh or barky loud as some loud exhausts for the V-Rod can tend to be. The # of discs in the endcap tune it for your altitude and bike. For me, no change to the headers or intake, 10 out of 12 discs are perfect. No decel popping, sweet performance gain. Supertrapp tech support on the phone or email is very helpful for this.

Recorded a ride vid on the DX here.
