I am reading the 2006 Touring Models Service manual.:hmmm:
The question is about the ECM and the 6 sesors it controls.
No explaining in the manaul.
IAT Sensor
TP Sensor
MAP Sensor
BAS Sensor (Internal to TSM/TSSM)
CKP Sensor
ET Sensor

Any Tech's that could tell me what the six abbrivations mean?
What do they do. Please use K.I.S.S.
Thanks in advance for help and answers.

Heres some info

IAT is the intake air temp sensor. Measures the temp of the air in the manifold.
TP is the throttle position sensor.
MAP is the manifold air pressure sesnsor.
BAS is the bank angle sensor. This sensor measures how much the bike is leaning. If it gets to great the sensor shuts off the engine and electrical system because it thinks the bike must down on its side.
CKP is the rpm sensor ( crank position sensor )
ET is the engine temp sensor measured at the front cylinder head.

All these sensors are part of the engine control system. Most of them are attached to the induction module. The ecm(electronic control module) uses the real time readings from these sensors in many different engine control algorithms(Such as fuel delivery, engine over heat, knock retard...etc) Thats about as far as I can take it. I'm sure someone else can take it from here....

Keeping it simple: ;)

You need the 2006 Touring Models Electrical Diagnostic Manual (PN 99497-06).
