I burned a CD in the MP3 format on my Street Glide. It plays, but instead of reading the song title on the display it simply reads "TRACK 1", "TRACK 2", ect... Is there a way to get the display to show the song title? I will try to reburn another MP3 disc, but wanted any feedback from the forum...

Thanks.

Not that I know of. All the CDs that I've burned just display the track number too. It'd be nice to see the song info displayed but its not important enough for me to run out and buy an MP3 player just for that.

If you find out that it is possible and how to do it please post back here.

I'm not sure if this will work, but when using the free version of music match you can enable it to search for song titles and when using it in the past on my computer it saves all the info on my mp3 burnt CDs.

good luck and ride safe.

"brownjams" is correct. It is the music software you are using to rip your CD's, that puts this info with each track. It's not the mp3 player. If it's not saved with each track, then the mp3 player only sees it as "Track 1", 2, etc. I use Music Match, also. I'm sure there are other apps that will do the same thing.

Still no luck... I burned it with another program and the song names still don't show up on the HD Radio display...

If anyone has made this work then let us know how!

I can take the same CD with MP3s and put it in my computer. There, it displays the song info but on the bike just the track numbers. Yup, I'm at a loss here. If anyone knows the secret please share. Otherwise, I'll just assume that the HK system on the Ultra can play MP3s but just not display the song title and other info.

Please don't tell me HK is that stupid! Why would they not add text function to the MP3 function of the unit? It's there for the radio.

It might be a nice feature if the song title was displayed, but since you made the CD, I'm not sure what difference displaying the son title makes. I burn all of my MP3 so I know the music that is being played. IMHO.

I first should of asked does it say anything in the manual for your radio. second when looking at harleys web site there's a download for the latest software for your radio. you burn the software to a CD and then put it in your radio, they give instructions how to do it. maybe the latest software will solve your problem. here's the link and click on the lower right and another window will open with more instructions.

Well I performed the download for the radio... Not sure what the updated software was for... Anyone know?

It didn't fix the MP3 issue of not displaying the song title in the display.

The software patch was to fix a couple of bugs within the HK stereo. 1 being the long delay between switching from CD to WB to AM to FM...Also it appears to added more bufferign time in so to stop or make less frequent CD skips....There were a couple of more fixes but Idon't remember them.

I to was hoping that the software patch would have fixed the reading of the CD's....It is not the software app that is causing this problem it is the way the HK player reads the CD. I can take the CD from my 06 Road Glide HK stereo and put it in my Alpine stereo in the truck and the Alpine reads all the information about the CD....Album, song name artist all that junk...So it is the HK player....

well my next suggestion is go to Harmon Kardons web site and email them on this question or call them if they have a number. they'll know more about it than any Harley dealer would.

Here is Harmin Kardins reply to my question on how to modify or fix the Track 1, Track 2 issue
Thank you for your inquiry. You have reached the website for the aftermarket car audio division. Unfortunately I have no information regarding your original equipment audio system in your vehicle. These questions can be best answered by contacting your local vehicle dealership, as we are not able to support these products being that they are made by the OEM division.

On Your factory system:
The OEM division produces only the upgraded amplifier and speakers for your factory system. The source unit is produced by another company. To this end, your dealership will be your only avenue for obtaining information on this unit as we do not have any information on these products.

I hope this helps.

Boy, if this is true how does HD get by calling this a HK unit. It sounds like they didn't have hardly anything to do with it.

Go to the HD website. Select "Products" from the top menu and then under 2006 motorcycles select "Touring". Then look at the bottom right portion of the page and you'll see info on the HK system. If you select that then a popup will appear and one of the tabs on the popup is the software download. Read the instructions first because you'll need to follow it exactly.
