The codes can be absolutely positively wrong.
That is my experience over codes. Recently my Glide would not start and I had a code telling me the front injector was the problem. So after air freighting the bike to a dealer it was determined there was a far simpler problem. The tech informed me that the code system can go crazy when something goes wrong. According to the tech the only thing the code can be proven to show it that there is a problem.
Had the code actualy show what was wrong I could have fixed it myself in a few minutes. As it was it cost me $ 375 to get the bike to the dealer to find out the code was wrong.
