High compression 10:1 1200 Sport engine - when I get off the gas, sometimes it’s ok; other times it will stall. It starts right up again, only to soon falter and eventually stall. Keeping the rev’s up helps. Whenever it falters, the engine light in the tachometer flickers on or stays on. When revved up again, runs better and light goes off. May falter again at any time.

the mating of the carb to manifold was funky on o couple of newer sports i worked on(carbed) the spacing was too sloppy and air leaks at the seal...other wise carb bugs...you got wat year?

It’s a 1998 XL1200S, the unique Sport model with 2 sp plugs per cylinder and hot cams and 10:1 compression.
