Poll: How Do You Feel About Loud Pipes?

Quote:
'Loud pipes save lives' and 'the louder it is the faster it is' are all phrases you’ve probably heard before, but for a lot of people – particularly the non-riding public – loud exhausts prove to be obnoxious. Which camp do you find yourself in?

The pipes that come down out the heads and point to the ground with no mufflers at all should be outlawed. Why would anyone want to blow the dust around for anyway. They should make some that point up to keep the riders hair in that I have ridden somewhere look.

Cool

Like loud car sound systems , it all depends on the operator. My 93in HC Panhead chopper has 40in Paughco drags , and can set off car alarms 2 blocks over if I open it up. But if I keep in under 2000 in populated areas , between the home lined streets , it's not that bad.

Some folks just need to prove something and be totally obnoxious every minute they're in the saddle.

I've known several people who put straight , open pipes on bikes without re-jetting or tuning. They said they didn't care how it ran as long as it was LOUD!

Back when I lived in a hi rise apartment on E.12th St. in Cleveland someones car alarm went off every night disturbing my sleep. I found a brick and was going to drop it when it was under my window. I lived on the 21st floor so I figured it would make a dent. Never got to use the brick cause somebody else dropped a large potted plant on the roof. I saw the car in the morning and the roof was crushed all the way to the seats. Hoo hah.

Pipes with a deep rumble sound good, But the screaming bumble bees don't. Personally I like a little rumble, but I don't overdo it. I also think the Government ought to stay out of our personal lives when pertaining to personal freedoms. IE Loud pipes, Lights on during the day, seat belts and so forth. 2012 Ultra limited.

There are limits to everything. To many push those limits for no other reason than shock value .
Sadly we need enforce enforced limits on pipes. The jerks brought this on them self.
