Fuel mileage

Came to the conclusion that my 2005 Road king has a bad fuel sending unit. Took the pump out and tested the float, so it's not bound. Anyways what kinda mileage ballpark should a full tank get me on average. Gonna use the trip meter to start gauging my fuel remaining. Don't wanna try to test to empty. Only Stage one so far. Thanks in advance

It should have a 5 gallon tank. Fill it , ride 100 or so miles, refill and calculate miles per gallon. 5 gallons x mpg gives range. Use trip meter, I never trust gauge on a scooter. Probably gonna be about 40 mpg if stock.

No idea what might have been done to the scooter, but out of the box it should have gotten better than 35mpg.

As said above, make a run and refill it. Then do the math.

my 03 Ultra Mildly heated up is about the same. I’m sweating it at 180. This is with a load and two up driving conservatively.

MY mistake. Checked my notes. 44.2 mpg geared up. I’ve gotten as high as 48 trying hard to maximize. I know when that tiny little yellow light comes on I need to be close to fuel. I carry 2x 1 gallon containers in my saddle bags on road trips. Stations are thinning out on the byways out west.

Mine varies 44-48 depending on the type of riding I'm doing. Also average speeds and whether I'm on the flat or in the hills.

I lived in Portland for 6 months and the only thing that was flat was a parking lot.lol. I do miss going to the docks for a $5 lobster.

Finding a $5 lobster would be tough now a days. Hopefully the price will drop as the season gets rolling.

Stopped in Booth Bay after a show in Laconia. Best lobster I ever had. 10 or 15 for two nice tails right on the harbor. Caught a tall sailing boat festival. I’m going back is on a list.

That was back in '93. We got a lot of free stuff up there. Portland had city food stamps and with state foodies we ate good. I had my dog and cats fixed for free too. They would ask where I worked and I would say Walmart. That is as far as the questions would go. Never did ask what my hourly rate was. They just assumed because I was at Walmart I was poor.haha.

Gas mileage varies too much due to rider technique/enthusiasm to use a "typical" figure'. Do the 100 mile run and fill several times to find out what YOUR gas mileage is. Then apply that with caution, especially when riding into a headwind. PUSHING that few hundred feet to the pump is a lot of work.
