Seriously fun to sit back and listen to some motorcycle riders tell their story.
I've been riding for 43 years. They got me beat by a few years.
Thanks for posting.

Part timer is reading this now saying WTF is this?
I'm second generation motorcycle rider. Mother and father rode and participated in the gypsy tour. I got hours 8MM footage of 1962-63-65 etc...Laconia's that my mother took back in the day. Dual and triple engine triumphs on make shift drag strip.

Its a lot different today. Cash cow industry. Kinda sucks even.

It was fun as a 6-8 year old to run around watching the races by the fence or walking to all the different venues.

Did the same with my kids (2 girls and a son) taking them to Laconia, HD rendezvous, swap meets and stuff and lots of riding. And do it with my grandkids now too

Bought my 1983 FLHS month and year my son was born and saved it for him and he got it now. Not sure if that was a good idea.

My love of motorycles, like those gentleman in the movies have given me a full life of great memories, friends and some not so good memories(my bad). I hope there is more to come.

Picture of me 1957, at 1 years old with my sister at Laconia. Picture of father of Ducati in the scrambles competition. Picture of son when he got the bike. With oldest grandson in sidecar bike.

Why Harley, because we can. Doing my part to share the experience with another generation.

And share it with an earlier one.

Oldest Grand daughter many years ago. She would often ride to and from school . Still have the bike.

dwood wants to know Dino or Syn?
15-1/2 years old [in 1959], just got my learner's permit which made it legal to ride here in California.

Off I went on my 1954 Harley model 165. Admittedly it was just a 2-cycle with 165 cc's of blazing 2-stroke power . . . but I was on top of the world. So what if top speed was only 50 mph. <g>

Current Harleys: 2014 XL1200cp and 2014 Tri Glide. 59 years later and I still feel on top of the world.

Why Harley?
My indy says it's because they're the coolest.
It's not for the reliability or performance, so I think he's right.

That is why I don't have problems with mine. Very seldom would a so called Indy touch it.

Why do we ride Harley's? Because they are chrome plated, slab pounding, sex machines.

I thought it was because folks are infatuated with underpowered ridiculously priced machines.

no,,,, it is a mindset we all bought into,,,after our beginnings.on other bikes when we were young,,, always wanting that harley for whatever reasons we had imagined,,,,,,, then we got one,,, and found that we had been duped into the myth of harleys being better,,,,, and were too vain to admit we made a very expensive mistake,,, and here we are 40+ years later perpetuating that same myth...

it's all I ride,,, but I hate them,,,, as a master tech,,,,, and a factory trained master tech,, whom some members take every opportunity to shut on our knowledge because we left the dealer,,, since were were weary of being underpaid, over worked, and non appreciated professionals,,, who have spent untold years learning the trade,,, and some of us hundreds of thousands of dollars in tools and equipment to perform that trade... but go ahead bad mouth all of us,,, since one must consider the source of the criticism... and the blind faith that is their mantra... lol. I'm just some dumbass, bubba hack,,, just ask army guy leads the way...

Did you have a bad problem(s) with an indy?
The HD dealer won't work on our EVO's so some of us depend on our experienced and qualified indy's.
