Colder and snow

We dodge most of the snow storm last night. Maybe 2-3 inches.
It did get colder 10 degrees out this morning. I am going for a ride.
The M8's tend to be hard to start at 20 degrees and colder. I have learned a few things that help and it worked this morning it did fire up.
Had the ATV snow plow ready to open the driveway up, but as I was having coffee the person I pay if he is around showed up and took care of that quickly with his old truck. Several years ago I was going away I ask him to plow it and told him from then on when he made his rounds if it needed it just do it. He has done a great job and darn reasonable in prices. The ATV and snow plow can be fun , but not that much fun.

The snow gets here after lunch, followed closely by the cold. Some areas are going to change to rain after starting as snow, and there is some fear that the wet roads will flash freeze to black ice. Dictator Wolfe has banned commercial vehicles from the interstates starting this afternoon. Being the short sighted dork that he is, they are allowed to use the secondary roads. Pretty much every interstate in PA parallels secondary roads. But I guess it will help keep the toll roads open and keep the turnpike commision happy.

Sure M8 don't like cold starting by cold I mean about 20 degrees.
1. Ensure battery is fully charged
2. When you try to start and it fails . Pops but does not start stop right away. Turn it off. Turn back on wait a bit roll throttle all the way open. Hold. start bike be ready to back off as soon as it starts..
It has been working for me and started at 10 degrees today.
Dealer I trust thinks the reason this may work is it floods a bit when t fail to start. Opening throttle allows it to draw more air.
Beat it to death figuring it out it works.

Drove up from IL/WI state line last night on RT 43 to Sturgeon Bay, WI. Pretty nasty roads took 4+ hrs usually takes 3. Had 8” of snow in IL overnight, little to no snow from Green Bay north.

We got 5" or so of the white crap today and 9" last weekend. I hate snow, but it did force me to rebuild the starter on my snowblower tonight.

We're in the thick of it at the moment. 6 on the ground and coming down at the rate of a couple inches an hour. Predicting approx 12 + inches or more. Supposed to snow all day. Time to go out and clear a bit. The tractors on call..

Ok now it is cold. 2 below zero this morning. I had to know would the M8 start.
Yes it did, needed help from the battery pack. Even with SYN oil it was stiff a slow turning at first.
Note do not hook starter unit it to the pig tail hook directly to starter

We ended up with less snow than there was already laying around before it started.

A few snow showers to start out last night, then warmed up and went over to rain.

Getting colder as the day goes along, 42 when I got up this AM, 26 now. Reported to be headed for 6f overnight with a high of 15 for tomorrow. Wind is really blowing out there, so its good that this was rain and not snow.

Yeah, I'm usually not here to enjoy it either but do to my wife's operation we're still here. Just came in from moving 12+ inches of snow with a crusty topping. 8 was the high today. Just another lovely day in the Northeast..
