I can't believe anyone runs 10w40 in any Harley engine, maybe the primary.

I never kept exact count,, but when I had the shop,,, probably around 50-60.. all the bigdogs, texas choppers, American iron horse, bourget, wild west customs,, all S&S powered,,, maybe 6-8 guys who had S&S engines on their harleys..

I get a five gallon pail of 15w-40 shell rotella T in all holes. Two of our bikes have open primaries. S&S 124 and a 96"stroker. Use it on all three of our bikes. All have cleanable reusable filters I use carb cleaner to clean them. I'm not sold on synthetic as leaks are more common and oil pressure is lower. Not knocking it but I'm not using it.

See that is what I was talking about as I have used Rotella in bikes since I found out about it. Why not the Harley? Well I am still on the fence between dino or syn.

With the temps the oil runs at in these new scooters, 15w40 is a little light for around here. Just too many days in the mid to high 90's.

Hook, you can run either. But the Dyno will need to be changed twice as much. And with it costing 1/2 as much, the cost is the same. The Syn will give you better thermal protection, faster oiling at start up, and less wear. But it will also make the valve train rattle a little more.

And my advice would be to not get caught up in that one oil three holes stuff. You can do it, but why would you want to?
