When using UOA the sky is the limit. I have a couple of HD customers from this forum that have gone 10,000 miles on one oil change and UOA showed they could go longer. I run some of my diesels 3 to 4 years, but do UOA to guide me. UOA doesn't really make much economic sense on a crankcase of only a few quarts, but in my diesels that hold over 5 gallons the money spent on a UOA does make sense. On a HD if you do your own service you might be saving around $10.00 after you pay for the UOA.
Now using someone else's UOA report to guide you on your bike is like using someone else's blood work for your doctor. Don't take offence to what I just said as I know you are more comfortable since reviewing your buddies UOA, but there can be different results due to type of riding, storage, possible fuel dilution from a bad computer signal, and on and on and also how long is the oil filter good for? Like the old statement your mileage may vary!
