Formual in the 107 and syn3 in the 114?

The 2018 softail owners manual specifies formula in the tranny of a 107 heritage and syn3 in the transmission of a 114 heritage.Anyone Know why the diff?.
Also, there is no zerk on the neck like on my last two Ultras but the 1k and subsequent service requirements call for greasing the bearing. i wonder if i bring it in to the shop for the 1k service they will disassemble the neck just to grease that bearing.

No idea, but there is a new pn on the gear pack for 2018. All softails use the same one for 2018, so there is no reason trans wise.

Might just be about squeezing a little better performance out of it. Or perhaps Formula+ is on the chopping block.

I'm thinking the syn3 can handle little more pressure than the formula and the extra cubes in the 114 puts out a bit more hp ,pressure. I think I will call HD and see if they got an answer.
Probably makes little 'real world' difference.

If that's the case, then I would drain that crappy syn3 out and put some synthetic gear oil in there.

Neck bearing is now a disposable service item. F+ is fine in the gear box you will never have a lube related issue caused by it. Same if you run 20/50 M1 or any of the long list of SYN gear lubes.
