I'm a bit exhausted after the trek home, but here goes!!
The weather was the best I've seen -- not too hot, a couple minor thunder storms, really great.
I can tell you from a couple different perspectives... downtown was the usual assortment of pasties and fishnet. Plenty of very cool bikes (the red 50's looking trike was pretty amazing). First time I've seen a Victory Vision up close. Oh my gosh it was, well, I don't know what to say. The funniest line heard from a group of guys standing around looking it over... "It's the 2019 Victory Vision".
From the Convention Center -- the CVO ROAD GLIDE had all the attention!!! That bike is nothing short of total killer. They REALLY did a job on the RG, and it's about time. The styling is just awesome. Color, detail, power, it's all there. VERY VERY nice bike. The TRIKES were also a big hit -- man they are SO cool. Harley really did some nice work. The bikes were just oozing lust.
My ride was
(with the exception of a problem covered in another thread, which I don't want to get into here) great! The Dunlop E3's performed flawlesslly through grates, tar snakes, extreme corners, heavy rain through Denver, hail and rain in New Mexico, you name it those tires flat performed. I don't know my exact miles but I've gotta be approaching 10,000 miles and they still look great. Next rear tire I'll mark the mileage. The Z-Gold Plus brake pads worked perfectly dry or wet. X-Lrg Clearview was absolutely awesome! Little/no buffeting. The bar mounted fog lights made all the difference on the mountain roads at night. In 4400 miles I barely used any oil (Redline 20W60), the Amsoil Syn ATF Dextron III was perfect in the clutch, and the Redline Heavy Shockproof was great in the trans. All in all, I was very pleased with the lack of eventful moments.
Made the usual stop in Wyoming for FIREWORKS!! Came home with quite the haul (for the kids of course) !! As I was returning through Phoenix yesterday about 2PM I couldn't help think about the unbearable heat + saddle bags loaded with explosives and octane boost, and began to wonder if I would end up a recipient of the 2008 Darwin awards.
The roads.. hows about hwy 77 south from Hwy 40 at Holbrook AZ through Salt River Canyon! Oh man was that a great ride!!! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL road and perfect curves. Rocky Mtn State Park in CO was awesome, as were the Black Hills of SD and red clay of New Mexico (through Santa Fe).
The best sign (should've taken a pic) was, oh I forget exactly, but there was a picture of a power pole and power lines saying: "Be safe, don't touch power lines" Oh,
REALLY!!!!! Is this for the same people who need the warning to not use their blowdryer in the bath tub???!! I do have the following 45-35-25mph signs -- no optical illusion, they're about 50' TOTAL spacing, start to back.
This is kinda skipping around subject to subject, I'm really tired after the ride home. I do have more pics & will post later. That's all for now!! Glad to be back.
