Rumble heading west!

The constant rumbling of bikes are heading west on MN Highway 60 in a very heavy rain past my house. Bike after bike, some in rain gear, some in leathers, some alone some two up or in packs of 5 to 15. You have to admire the people riding for hours to get to Sturgis in rain. Even last night when half of SD was covered in rain there were people heading west. The rumbling stirs me inside wanting to head out to the garage, pack and head west with so many others. No plan to do it this year, unless a last minute urge gets me on the bike on Tuesday for the 560 mile pilgrimage, overnight Wednesday, and back on Thursday.

I've been watching the radar too. I had some friends leave yesterday from Austin, MN. They had to have ran right into that rain somewhere in SD. It was travelling right along I-90. Hope they pulled off. The last time I rode with them, they did not have every good rain gear. Hopefully they bought some new stuff. We rode in the rain around Lake Superior a few years back and when we stopped at a gas station, the guy's rainpants were ripped to shreds. He got off the bike and was cussing as he ripped the rest of it off of him. Funniest thing I've ever seen! lol

Ginger! Not sure I will make the Side Hack this year. If for some reason I do get out of here on Tuesday I would probably make the get together. About 10 hours from here to Sturgis. I will for sure buy a round for you and that guy in the green thong!

After riding I-90 most of yesterday, it didn't seem like a small rally. Nothing but bikes and trailers on the road! (And lots of 'em.) Crowded!! I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I agree. I was in the Sturgis area last week and left town yesterday, Sunday, going east on I-90 and saw a lot of bikes. Who knows how big the rally will really be but there's going to be enough to party for sure!

I was able to stop in to the Rapid City Civic Center and got my H.O.G. rally pin and now I'm feeling pretty special. The HD dealer in Rapid has a lot of vendors again on his parking lot and most of the vendors in Sturgis were also on-site before the official start today.

I had a good time - I'm sure I missed the peak of the rally but that weekend before certainly has enough people and vendors to satisfy. Now its back to work - enjoy now all who are there this week.

Headed Home

We were there a week, staying in Custer, and man what beautiful countrty. We did all the classic rides like Devils Tower, Needles, Iron Mountain, Spearfish Canyon and others.

Were were in Sturgis 2 days and the crowds grew constantly. If the body count is down much I don't know where you would put them.

We're on the road home now, headed for coastal North Carolina. We have over 4600 miles so far with about 1100 more to go. Glad I had my seat reworked before I left.

I had a really good time and wish that I could have stayed for the Sidehack get together. Maybe bext year.

Everyonw ride safe.
