Good Campsites???

I'm from Greeley, Colorado, about an hour north of Denver, and this is my first time to Sturgis. I feel like a little kid on his way into a candy store!! Can't wait!!
I've been reading a lot about many of the campsites east of town, and how the traffic can be a bitch. Can anyone tell me of their experiences with other campsites, perhaps 5, ten, or even 20 miles away from downtown Sturgis? I don't mind getting up in the morning and taking a nice little ride to get to the center of all the action. After all, it's all about the riding, isn't it?!?!? However, other than some nice riding in the surrounding area, I'm really looking forward to just checking out all the different people and bikes.
Anyway, back to my main question. Any good campsites out of town a ways. Thanks in advance for the info!!

Eagles Landing. Bands, $1 beer, and EASY access to freeway.

I've stayed at Elk Creek a few times,11 miles out.
Nice place with a swimming pool, bar and restaurant, laundry and C-store.
Also a great steakhouse with live music just up the road by the freeway.
It's fairly quiet especially in the " back 40"
Lots of hot showers and they come around in a golf cart serving bloody marys and screwdrivers in the mornings.

the camp grounds east of town use to be a HUGE bitch to get in and out of, but since they have installed a couple of make shift stop lights and made it four lane, its alot easier to maneuver around out there.

Mt Rushmore KOA, if you don't mind riding a bit.

Creekside Campground, on 79 right across from the dragstrip. Clean, relatively cheap, plenty of shade, they always have hot water for the shower house. The place is also pretty quiet at night.
An alternate route in and out of town is to go a mile or so north of Creekside and turn left at the lake. It is a well maintained dirt road (40-50 mph) that will take you into town and drop you out on to Junction Ave. It is the only way I travel to and from town.

Wyatt's Hideaway Camp Ground

Wyatt's Hideaway campground is about 15-20 minutes (22 miles) from Sturgis. Close enough that it is ez to get to sturgis and far enough away that you can still sleep at night...(if you want to). You are 5 minutes from a small town with restaurants and bars (Belle Fourche) You will be about 1 hour from the devils tower and about 10 miles from the new Boneyard venue in Whitewood. http://www.theboneyardsaloon.com/ I had friends stay there last year and they enjoyed it.

If you are interested you can call them at 605-892-0600. <---number for campground, not my friends..lol

good luck, ride safe and enjoy the rally.

Hog Heaven, gravel in and out but just outside of Sturgis, most likely already full.
