Wyoming Route Advise

Hi All,

Driving through Wyoming (Northbound..coming from Utah) to Sturgis and am looking at the two options shown in the attached image.

Option 1: Highway 80 through Laramie and Cheyene to the 25.

Option 2: Highway 80 and cutting North via 287 to 220 (eventually connecting to 25).

It appears that the 287/220 route past the Pathfinder Reservoir is quicker route (I plan to take it slow coming back but need to be there by a specific time on Sunday).

Anyone take either or both of these roads and have some advise?

THANKS ALL!

You can pick up 220 out of Rawlins off the 80. It takes you through the Pathfinder Ranch and is a nice run into Casper. From there you can jump on I-25 to Buffalo and pick up the I-90 or take the back roads to Gillette via Midwest, Edgarton and Wright

I'm not sure, but Google Maps and Google Earth are. Seriously, try them out. Google Maps will give you the shortest route, and with Google Earth, you can zoom in with satellite pictures to see what the roads are like. For me, I'd sometimes rather go a bit out of my way if it means I can get some nice mountain roads with lots of curves.

It might be a little late but try I-80 to Laramie. 287 north out of Laramie to hwy 34 to I-25 at wheatland then up to hwy 20 to lusk then hwy 85 north.

Thanks all!

I went with Option 2 and took 287 to 220. The road is in great shape and very scenic. Going up was awesome but coming back I ran smack into a storm with strong gusts, lightening and rain. The gear and bike held up great and no deer jumped in front of us so we made it through okay. Storm aside...this is definatley the route to take.

If you take 80 to Cheyenne then 25 north to 18 you will see some great country. Hwy 18/85 will take you through Newcastle and then stay on 85 and that takes you to Lead, SD and the road to Sturgis. The highway around Lead, is great ride.

Option 2 here.... I -80, 220, 25 into Belle Fourche. We are leaving out of Salt Lake on Saturday, crack ass early. Hoping to get into either Rawlins or Casper...spend the night...and then bust in Sunday afternoon.

If anyone wants to jump on with us...just pm me. A couple of us are haulin' wives so we won't be breaking any new records.

Best of luck to all!
