07 Low Rider Wide Tire Kit

I have a 07 Low Rider now with nearly 12k on the original back tire, needless to say it is time for a new tire. I have been considering the wide tire kit for it, and wanted to know if anybody else has done this and what they think, should I stay with the factory tire or get the wide tire kit, what are the pro and cons of doing so?

I did it (without the kit, just the tire) and it has more traction than the OEM tire.

Since then, I have switched to a Metzler ME880 170-60R tire, and am getting ready to put my third one on. I think it's the best value and best riding tire....

Pirelli is coming out with a new line, the Night Dragon - they look promising

I bought the wide tire kit when it came time to change out the back tire on my '06 Street Bob. The wider 180mm tire looks great and handles at least as good as the stock 160mm tire that it replaced.

12000 miles is excellent for the stock tire. I changed mine out at 8000 tho I probably could've pushed it to 9000 miles. I was leaving for a 10 day bike trip tho and didn't want to risk riding that far with the back tread getting low. I'm now around 15800 miles and the 180mm tread is starting to get low. I'll probably end up changing it in the Spring.

FWIW I changed the front tire at 15000 miles. It was still above the wear bars but I could feel a difference when leaning in the corners. The front had a sort of unsettled feel like it wanted to wobble slightly. No such feeling from the new front tire which is the same model Dunlop. IMHO the wear bars seem like they're set a little too low for the front tire at least.
