360 brakes

anyone hear of any feedback with these nice looking brakes?...last i heard they had to redesign them and that when paul yaffee used them he had to modify them and he had a hard time getting replacement pads,i thought of using them but have'nt heard how well they function and know of no test...so anyone feel free..thanks

springer- will become famous soon enough
I know of a local bike builder that uses (used) them.

Here is the story he told me.....

After the first set locked up riding down the road, he contacted the company and found the original maker had gone out of business. Seems another company purchased them and redesigned them. He contacted them and they sold him the updated parts and he had to machine some of the parts to update them. To date he says he has about $2000 in the front brake.

But they look nice.

They look cool on a bar hopper or show chopper but i wouldnt run them on a daily driven bike, I just dont think they are very stout!

The builder who done my cousins and my bike said they were a piece of cr@p . He said he put one on his dads glide with a 21" wheel and had nothing but problems . His dad rides his bike hard and he had trouble stopping . Finally got so leary of it they took it off . They look awesome , but you might need to carry an anchor with you .

i had the original brakes on front and rear. had lots of trouble with them squealing and heating up to where the fluid would boil and cause a vapor lock then brake fade. flushed the dot 5 out for a high temp dot 4 which held the heat but brake still got freakin too hot to touch. baldwin came out with a hollowed piston to supposedly disperse the heat. got one of those but didnt help much. luckily i returned the brakes last july for chrome pit and the new management honored my credit. finally got 2 full new designed units just last week. 10 months! in the meantime i installed HHi sprotor and 4 piston front brake.

how high of a level of insanity would i reach if i removed a working HHI set-up to install these 360's again?????

the company says they are selling but i havent heard any feedback on these new units.

here's a pic of the older unit.

Fool me once shame on you fool me twice...
Brakes need to be able to throw off heat energy by convection and radiation. There just isn't enough exposed surface area to get this job done. IMO a fatal flaw.
Should be OK for a show bike though.

Yep, strictly show bike stuff & rear wheel only if you ask me.
