SnapOn SRES24 adaptor

I wanna change my 03 NT's rear shocks, so I contacted several SnapOn dealers re: the SRES24 tool. Evidently, there are none in stock and they don't know when there will be more.
Is there another way to remove and retighten the rear shock bolt without this adaptor?
Thanks!

I thought about that, but since the dealers said it wasn't currently available, I figured that the net store didn't have anything either.
Thanks for the thought.

Ditto what OH1 said. Unbelievable what ya need to remove friggin shocks!
They say it's easier with rear tire moved.
But it does take mucho mucho elephant power to bust'em loose. If you have it on a bike stand and up in the air, just be absolutely sure it's strapped down or have a buddy hold it. I personally know of one guy doing it by himself, bike not strapped down, and wouldn't ya know it...brand spankin new bike fell over.
Also read that you when you tighten those bolts, just flood them with Loctite, and jump on them bad boys with a big, big wrench and popeye arms. I believe the adapter is needed so you can achieve an accurate reading on the torque wrench.
I found it odd that my local HD dealer doesn't want to tackle softail shocks, and of course I don't want them touching my bike anyway.

If you haven't taken the rear wheel off in a while - do it. Throw some anti sieze on the axle and knock out 2 birds with one stone!

It's not bad to get the shocks off, once you take the rear wheel off. You can sit behind the bike, hold the swingarm, and use your foot on a wrench to break the bolts loose.

I passed on the snap-on torque adapter when re-installing them. You figure you torque lug nuts to 90 ft-lbs, so I antie-seized the bolt shafts, loc-tited the bolts threads, and swag'ged 115, holding on to the swing arm so I didn't lift the bike off the stand.
