Ditto what OH1 said. Unbelievable what ya need to remove friggin shocks!
They say it's easier with rear tire moved.
But it does take mucho mucho elephant power to bust'em loose. If you have it on a bike stand and up in the air, just be absolutely sure it's strapped down or have a buddy hold it. I personally know of one guy doing it by himself, bike not strapped down, and wouldn't ya know it...brand spankin new bike fell over.
Also read that you when you tighten those bolts, just flood them with Loctite, and jump on them bad boys with a big, big wrench and popeye arms. I believe the adapter is needed so you can achieve an accurate reading on the torque wrench.
I found it odd that my local HD dealer doesn't want to tackle softail shocks, and of course I don't want them touching my bike anyway.
