180 Deuce Swingarm on FXST?

Anyone know if the new 180 wide tire deuce swingarm can be installed on the softail standard with a 180 tire - assuming the rear fender would also need to be replaced.

you could go that route but a duece frame is not a fxst so you are going to run into problems with the struts themselves. If you are looking for the wide tire look I use the dorhety kits, I have been selling them and they are a very nice kit. The fender is a strutless type bolt on no mods, and you can run up to a 200/chain, 0r 180 belt. I run a 180 now and did use a belt before the 124 broke them like string. There is very little room for belt to tire clearance. The SE deuce parts you are looking at will get pricey fast. The fender is your biggest probelm just swapping in a fender will make life much easier. use a 18, 5.5 rear rim, and a 200 tire looks sweet. I have one I am in the process of sending out to paint for my own scooter.

meyerld,

You don't need to swap out your swingarm to stuff a 180 series tire in there. However, you will have to remove your stock struts and fender. Check out this link for Hogpro's entire kit:

Great company to do business with too!

the kit he is selling is dorhety and the priced is increased over what you can retail, The fender is the issue you can get by by swapping in button head bolts, tire brand will make a difference, also if you have a lowering kit, ride two up all will come into play, swap the fender and be done with it . Drop me a line if you have any questions, I have swapped this kit many times. I can give you a list / part numbers of what you need to do the swap yourself

csoday will become famous soon enough
Wrench, I'm looking at going to the Heartland 180 kit. I was checking one out that was being installed on a soft tail and it looks like it will handle a 200.
According to my guy, who sells the kit, Heartland says it will take the 200 with a few mods. Any experience with this?

csoday,

I was looking at the Heartland Biker kit myself. However, with their kit they HIGHLY recommend lowering the bike and using their seat, which just adds to the total price of the wide tire kit. Also, the Heartland folks were not very helpful over the phone, and have never responded to a single email...just sharing my experience.

JDM...Thanks for the prompt response. Are you a representative of DM Customs? Or, a very knowledgable consumer?

That sounds like the same set up that I would do. I like the Heartland fenders and struts but their seats look disproportionate to the rest of the bike(too long). Can you post some pix of your bike?
