2002 FXDL rear tire size

I'm working on a friends 02 FXDL. He wants to go to a 160/80-16 rear tire from the stock 150 size.

I believe it will fit according to other posts I have seen here.... but...

1. A 160/80-16 is supposed to be mounted on a 4 inch wheel right? Isn't the stock size a 3.5 inch? He is going to get new wheels too, should he order a 4 inch?

2. If we go with a 4 inch wheel won't we have to change wheel spacers?

3. If we have to change wheel spacers, anyone know what size to go with?

4. If we change the wheel size to 4 inch will we have to change to a narrow final drive belt?

5. What about brake mounting location? Will we have to move the mount out to adjust for a .5 inch wider wheel size?

6. We wouldn't have to worry about all this crap if we just mount the 160 onto the stock 3.5 wheel. Has anyone run into handeling or tire wear irregularities by mounting a 160/80-16 on a 3.5 (stock) rear wheel?

Thanks all!!

Al

murphdog is an unknown quantity at this point
The stock wheel is 3" wide. Metzler says 3.5"-4.5" for a 160/80.
Wheel spacers only change if the hub width or offset changes, not the rim width. The belt will hit the tire before it hits the wheel.
On my '03 with a 1 1/8" belt, there is 7/16" (0.4375) clearance between the belt and 150 tire. A 160 tire is 0.4" wider, or 0.2" on each side, so belt clearance should not be a problem. The belt guard may be a problem, but you can trim it, I have 5/16" clearance on mine. Do you have the 1 1/8" belt?
