Lowering & Jiffy Stand

Couldn't find a straight answer after my search . . . I plan on lowering my FLSTF 1.5 - 2" (rear only) & wondering if I'll need a shorter stand. Thanks.

My FLSTC is lowered about an inch (rear only) and the stand is borderline. If you push the bars full right when it's parked, it's a little too upright and would tip with a slight push. I'd guess 1.5 - 2" would require a shorter one.

If you do the rear only than you may not need one. Especially if you stay closer to 1.5" instead of 2" Alot of the times you run into problems is when you lower the front and rear. But just to be safe you can pick one up at Ness for arount $60 or so. It's 1" shorter and really helps the lean angle. That way if you do ever lower the front you'll be set.
I use one on mine but I'm at 4" under on the front end with Legends kit in the back. I'm really at the limit of this stand so I may have to get an adjustable one to be safe (btw also available through NESS). Good Luck!

You don't absolutely have to have one, unless you just want it.
My FLSTFI is lowered 1.75" rear only with OEM stand.
Just turn the bars to the left and you won't have any problems at all.
Turn the bars to the right, all bets are off.

Thanks folks - I definetly prefer the higher front / low rear so I'll stick w/stock jiffy for now - appreciate all the feedback.

I lowered my rear and after a year with the stock jiffy stand, went to a shorter one. The problem was that any slight uphill, and we have a lot of curb parking like that around here, caused the bike to sit too upright. I got tired of always searching out flatter spots to park, or worrying whenever I parked on a slight incline. FWIW.

Jireh has a wedge that bolts under the stock stand mounting, kicks the stock stand out a bit, so a lowered bike leans a bit more to the left. It's about $15, as I recall. Invisible when installed.

If your stand height is marginal with fully inflated tires it will not support the bike upright with a flat. Something to think about.

I went down 1.75 on my flstf and still have the oem jiffy stand on. Just be conscious of where you park and which way it is leaning. I had to trun it around a few times becuase it was sitting too straight up and down and I thought a good breeze would take it out. Overall no problems and it has been a year.

I only lowered my bike one inch front and back and I installed the Arlen Ness short stand. Feels the same as it did before lowering.............
