21" D402 cracking in the tread
I've searched the threads and found a couple that addressed the problem, but I'm wondering about the urgency when it comes to safety.
I'm running the D402 21" up front. It's got @ 6-7 k on it. The tread depth is ok (probably right at 2/32). I do run tubes. The bike is garaged when I'm not on it.
The issue is the cracks. I've read that it's pretty common in the sidewall - due to weathering/dry conditions/age, etc. My cracks are in the tread vallies. Some look pretty nasty.
Have any of you experienced "failure" from this. The tire is holding pressure but my worry is obvious - catastrophic failure while I'm rolling down the road.
I plan on replacing the tires ASAP (ordering some today). Would I be suicidal for riding until the new tires get here? Thanks
