Raking & stretching frames

Looking for known, reputable shops that rake & stretch frames?

Many of your better known custom shops can do it. I'm not sure of shops out your way, but an example here would be Strokers Dallas (Rick Fairless' place). I asked for a acost of bringing in a bare frame to be raked and stretched and found I could order a custom frame to my specs for the same price......

That's what I figured I'd hear Chuck. Trying to weigh any differences between using the stock HD frame and an aftermarket frame?

The motor is an 2001 TC-B 124 so long as the frame wraps around that and holds a 200-250 rear tire I'll be happy!

I'm going so far away from what my 01 Heritage started out as that I really don't give a damn.

I normally ride 50-75 miles per day and more on the weekends. My softail was so slammed in the rear that suspension was pretty much non-existant...

I'm going for the up & out look with a Durfee Girder front end, drag bars with 6-8" risers and 21" front wheel.

Yeah, all that with a 124" TC running Nitrous.

Why? Just because I can...

My son has a Hayabusa and I've ridden it. Yes, it's damn fast! 80+mph in first gear alone... BUT - It just doesn't have the nostalgia that I need.

There are guys pushing 70 riding crotch rockets, to each their own... However, I have my own opinion of what looks right.

I'll never buy a new a Harley, news that I've been hearing is that what's left of the MoCo is being forced to the water-cooled side thanks to the EPA...

This frame-up rebuild is going to be done by myself (as much as possible).

I know my limitations and won't skimp in safety or performance...

Hope to post some pics of the rebuild starting very soon.

Sounds like you got it figured out! Cool. I would recommend Rolling Thunder for a frame. They will build exactly what you want. I've got a frame sitting in my front room that they made me to swap all my stuff from my Train to. I went ahead and built my Train and my next project will be the frame. It is 5" back bone stretched, 1" up, 40* rake, internal fork stop, 250mm rear tire, 1-3/8" dia, set up for the Twin Cam "B" motor.

Trinity Frame and Fab 214-475-0068, his work is perfect and reasonable.

Custom Works in Daytona has done a TON of rake jobs. That's where I got all my info from to have my frame raked. Prices were all over the place from local MN shops. One shop wanted my bare frame and $1,100..... One wanted the tank, front end, motor removed, and $800. PMFR wanted the tank, front end, and rear wheel removed, and did the rake for $230. I think Custom Works is around $600 for a rake, but that includes R&R of everything as well.

claydbal will become famous soon enough
chopperguys. quality frames, all mounts and tabs are dead on, and you dont have to worry about weakened metal or welds cracking.
