Springer front axle question

My bike has acorn nuts on the pivot studs and I would like to do the same to the front axle. I was going to get and axle, turn down the side with the nut and thread it. I was going to red loctite one end, blue locktite the other, use lock washers, and put acorn nuts on both ends. Anyone done this or seen it done? Any problems you can see? Jim
