Fork Oil?? any alternatives?

Hello thanks for looking in... It is time to change the fork oil (nacelle headlamp)----so you know it has been a while/ I found the bottle from the last change figured it may be no good as it has been about 10 years since I changed it. ( I told you Nacelle headlight!)

So I was wondering what or is there an alternative to 20 weight fork oil instead of B-Ray or PJ or whoever. I was hoping to pick it up without having to go all the way to the Frikin dealer for forkin oil....
I run auto tranny fluid in the primary and valvoline in the motor and do not really like to spend the extra 3 bucks a bottle for having to go the Motorcycle shop. I know attitude with the expense. LOL!
So if you got a resource or clue where or what I can use that would be appreciated.
Regards

that is what I was thinking oil is oil as long as it is a SAE standard. Anyone else? I was also wondering about seal swell or any additives the fork oil may have that straight weight might or might NOT have.

USE FORK OIL......you can get many brands at metric cycle stores. Plus, if you want the ride a bit stiffer or softer, you can get any viscosity you like, not like the HD store that has 10,20 30 only.
Metric shops will have 5, 7.5, 10,15 etc.....

why mess around? Fork oil is cheap! I'm no sucker for over priced Harley products, but the screaming eagle fork oil works great for me,and oil does have different applications.

I went with pj fork oil 20 wt. had to get two bottles as I needed 24 oz total/ So I drained it and ran the extra 5 oz from each bottle thru the legs to flush it out. I shall see how it works

fork oil change

Wow I took her out for her maiden spin from all the stuff I did.I got to tell you---the fork oil had not been changed in quite sometime. The difference between the old oil and going to 20 wt fresh was like the difference from riding a bike with a real low front tire and a proper inflated one. If the front end get a bit sloppy think about changing the fork oil. manual says every year... I can tell you I went a lot longer.. But now I know what to notice and the cause.

Flst needs 24 oz a leg there abouts pending on wet or dry give or take an oz. How do you buy your oil in 48 oz jugs?
