Tires on Touring Bikes

I have a 2009 Ultra with about 9300 miles on it. The Dunlop 180 65B 16 rear has about 5 1/2 32nds of tread left. I believe the tire comes with about 11/32 new. It looks like I am going to get some pretty good wear out of it. Was wondering what kind of wear others are gettng? I use to average about 8K on the rear of my 2006 Ultra factory Dunlops..

So, do you guys with all those miles on their D407 rear tires think that this is possible the best wearing tire you have ever seen? I mean 15-20 thousand miles on a motorcycle is rare, expecially a rear tire.

Dunlap website says the rear comes with 10/32 new. I have 10k on mine and 5/32 left. Great rear tire I think. Front 407 was pretty much done at 8k couldn't find a replacement around here finally had to order one on-line and the new 408 is going on tomorrow

12,300 on my rear, same for the front.

I got 13K out of both my Dunlop rears.

When it was time to change the front I switched to Metzler Marathons as they are supposed to have a longer wear life. I have about 6k on them and the rear looks like it is barely broke in. The rubber compound is harder on the Metzler's and they make more road noise than the Dunlops did which took some getting used to.

The Tour Pack will cause your rear tire to wear faster than a bike with out one, even if you don't have it full of junk. Just something to keep in mind when you are compairing mileage with others.

Elmo, ur 2007 has COMPLETELY DIFFERENT tires than the '09's... comparing apples and peaches...

Changed front and rear on my 09 ultra at 15,000 miles. Front was cupped badly and had to be replaced, rear still had good tread on it, changed before and 8000 mile trip.
