ttgoddard wants to know Dino or Syn?
MU85-16 instead of MT90-16 on my Dresser

I own a 1999 Ultra Classic that is in need of a new rear tire. It currently has the std. size MT90-16, however, I wanted to know if anyone had replaced theirs with the slightly wider MU85-16?

The 85 has an increased load carrying capacity as well as slightly deeper tread for longer wear.

My only concern is the amount of clearance in the rear fender when loaded up with me and the misses .

The additional cost is small compared with the perceived benefits.

Thanks,

Tony

If I rememer correctly the MT-90 is the 130-90-16 tyre..and the
MU-85 is the 140-85-16 tyre...

you have not gotten much wider and a slightly lower profile (sidewall) and it should fit well.
I run the 150-80-16 on mine and it fits snuggly but with plenty of clearance even two up...

go for it..

Thank you, that was my feeling too that it should fit okay. Diameter is the same and width is only 0.3" wider according to the Dunlop web site spec.
