Details Details Details

Alright...I have the H/D Touring Manual out for
my bike. I recently removed the front forks and
pulled the lower tubes off for powder coating.

So whats up with the long detailed explanation
for correct fork oil install.
I went ahead and just put the 11.5oz or so that
was called out. But what is all the other detail,
verification, and procedures listed?

Was I ok in just adding the recommended amount
without all the other checks?

Thanks.

Oil level is supposed to be set by measuring the amount of air space left ( 4.88 inches, IIRC) between the fluid level and the top of the tube. This is "specifications", and is done at the shop, hence it's containment in the manual. For the rest of us, we measure (just like you did), pour, and enjoy .

That's not true. There are those of us that go by the manual and do the measuring.
