FLHX Mags versus Profile Laced Spokes?
I was never a spoke wheel guy... until I bought my 08 FLHX...
I'm still not 100% sure I like them, so I scored a set of FLHX mags as well for it.
#1... I'm a daily rider, I commute with my scoot... so I rack a ton of miles living on a little rock in the middle of the ocean.
#2... I'm a lazy ass too, and I hate cleaning wheels when I can be riding.
#3... Spokes Require more maintenance (tubes, truing, spoke tightening, etc)
For now, the spokes will stay on, until I decide WTF to do with them... I spent some time looking in the P&A catalog... floating rotors, etc... so this is gonna get expensive anyway...
Any comments, opinions, snide remarks?

here's one snide remark for ya...
IMHO the FLHX wheels are the UGLIEST things that the MOCO has ever put on a bike. Look like something that belongs on a mid ninetys mini-truck. Yuk. Keep the spokes.....

Me, i still like the factory cast "spokes" if they're chromed. But you were talkin' the laced spokes right? Hows the riding in Hawaii? No offense meant....just as you (and i )stated just my opinion...
You still have one of my favorite bikes a FLHX....my next bike may very well be one, but it won't spend 5 minutes in my possession with them cast wheels......
Later, Tim

Tim... Yep... Profile Laced Spokes... and the wheels growing on me... but I bought the mags anyway...
Rode it home this afternoon... VERY impressed with the 96" and the Cruise drive 6speed. Hawaii riding? Sweet... its been a bit cooler than normal here (dipping into the mid-high 50's) but it finally dried out after weeks of rain... now... if we can cycle out the gnats... all would be good...
2003 Fatboy for SALE? (Garage is a bit crowded with 3 bikes and a 87 Buick GN shoehorned in there.. )

I am not trying to rain on your parade, so please don't take this the wrong way, but that bike has the IDS ride system on the rear wheel, please make sure the rims you are receiving can except that rear pulley.
I am like you, I dislike spokes myself, and had to wait two weeks for the dealer to order in my bike, even tho there was one just like it on the floor, it's just that it had spoke rims, so I waited.
Please check with the service department to what years will work, and how much it will cost to change that IDS over to the new rim.

The infamous "cush"-drive? I'm well aware of it and I wont take it the wrong way... I promise... As far as the guys in the parts and service departments could tell, the 08 wheels are all the same as the earlier wheels... the cush drive bolts to the hub just as the fixed sprocket did... just with more itty-bitty pieces to break.
The wheels I aquired were '07 0 mile take offs. I'm waiting on the floating rotors to arrive so we can do the install... If for some reason they dont fit I am guaranteed a refund. For now I'll be content to ride and enjoy it and hope it doesnt rain so I dont have to clean the darn thing.
FWIW, I'm kind of limited to selection... I cant just drive to another State to buy a bike, (All of Hawaii's H-Ds are sold via a Distributorship, the only system like it in the entire HD network I'm told) I could have ordered one but I couldnt guarantee delivery before the finance offer expired (02-02-08)

I thought about that too...
Wheels would have to be shipped to the mainland to do Chrome... local shop will not do wheels. $$$$
