Police Dunlops

In Milwaukee the police ride Harleys (duh) and get special tires from Dunlop. Bead lock and heavier sidewalls. The purpose is to create an almost "run flat" tire which does not walk or come off the rim when it goes flat.

Anyone know anything about these or why they can't be used by two up riders?

The wt rating is to low for two up riding. Replace with Avons and you will feel a big difference.

I just changed out a police Dunlop and got about 10K on the rear. About 15% of that was two-up. My understanding is that the side walls are more rigid and can build up more heat with a load on. I switched to a civilian Dunlop on the back and still have a police Dunlop on the front. The dealer said that would be running mis-matched tires but a couple of Indys, who I trust said no problem. Got about 2K on the "mis-matched" tires with no problem.
