Wheel Removal in BFE... How?
So lets say I'm out in BFE along the ALCAN Highway and I get a flat on my '98 RK. How in the Hell am I gonna get the wheel off to patch the tire? Is there a field expedient, SurvivorMan center stand I need to learn how to make out of empty beer cans I collect from the ditch? Lay the million pound King on his side and hope not to beat the crap out of the bags? Is there a collapsible stand that comes with me? What gives? And yes, I ask specifically about the ALCAN for trip planning reasons.

Dont have to take wheel off for these..It will get you to a local dealer if you have an air source as well...

Do you have tubeless tires? Then I would use a plug kit like Chop suggested. Otherwise, you're going to have to access the tube which more than likely means you've got to pull the wheel. There must be a way to do it. Depending on what's available where you need it to be, I would think you *might* be able to put something under the jiffy stand to support the foot and then lean the bike over on the stand and get the back end up in the air and then slide some boards or rocks under the frame.
Since you bring up "survivorman", I would bet a way to do it if you absolutely had no other solution would be to get something solid for the frame to rest on like boards or rocks, and then you could dig a hole under the rear tire to get enough clearance to remove the wheel. I know it sounds crazy but it would work if you had no other way around it.
You're still gonna need some pretty sturdy tire irons too...

This is what fix a flat foam is for. It can get you to a garage. dealers don't like it, but you will.

Without a doubt, if you put fix-a-flat in your tire-- tell the service writer, and hand the MECHANIC $10 and apologize. Before he gets the goo all over him.
I'm pretty sure a center stand isnt gonna do you any good without also diggin a hole under the tire, havin the tire irons, and a big ol wrench or possibly two, maybe a mallet cause-did the last guy in there anti-sieze your axle? Rusty axles suck.

I have spoked rims with tubes. Hadn't thought of digging a hole, that just doesn't sound like a goood time. Not that fixin' flats are. There HAS to be a "good" way to do this.

Has anyone tried using a small, scissor jack for this? As in the type that come in most car spare tire kits. I've found several available, but all weigh more than I'd like to carry along with me (10+ pounds). Is there a lightweight, alloy version of these available?

They use it in bicycle tires (with tubes). this way, all of the goo is inside of the tube, that is even better. If it gets you to a garage or a motel, it has done its job.

When I had to fix a flat on the road. I took out the battery, it was not a sealed battery, took off the bags and laid it on it's side. I then pulled the wheel out the bottom. It was a major pain. This was with a tube tire. I've run tubeless for the last 10 yrs. and have had much more fun. Good Luck!

I change all my own tires so not a problem. First rear was changed by PO, and I am guessinf little lite on the antiseize, and was a PIA.
I carry progressive tire repair kit with CO. Thinking about making one of the ones with spark plug hollowed out and a hose on it to pump up the tire.
I have seen a front tire changed with just a car jack on the forks. Might get a passerby to help or use peice of wood. Since I have front and rear engine guards, push comes to shove I would lay it down.
But with tubeless, not much you are going to do with out plug kit. I carry alot, but not a spare tire.
