Low Rider mags on Street Bob

I bought a set of HD Dyna Low Rider mags to put on my Street Bob. Before I put them on, I had the dealer check the parts book to see if I needed to change anything on the axle. He said the axle spacers had the same part number on both models, so all I should have to do is bolt them up. Which I did - now, the disc on the front wheel is rubbing the inside brake pad more than I think it should, plus I can see daylight between the outside brake pad and the disc.

I generally followed the factory manual procedure, with one notable exception - the factory manual says you need to remove the front brake caliper and both brake pads when changing the front wheel. I didn't because I couldn't see why it would be necessary. Could it be that the pads have to reset themselves in the caliper when the wheel is removed and replaced?

The only other thing I can think of is that perhaps the front wheel bearings are different between the mag and wire wheels which could be throwing the spacing off.

Any ideas?

If you can fit something slim (spackel knife?) in between the pad and the rotor you can push the pads out a little. After you push the pads out, when you press the brakes again it will reset them to the proper spacing against the rotor.

That's what I would try, but I've only changed brake pads, never wheels.

I tried your suggestion, prying back the inside pad and taking a quick ride. It sounds like the disc may be very slightly warped. I think it will be okay for a while. Thanks!
