Don't Have A Cow
I am going to throw this tidbit 'out there' and then let all of you guys fight about it, while I concentrate on getting my bike running, and THAT thread.
Crankshafts and bottom ends.
There seems to be only ONE name if a person wants their crankshaft repaired the 'higher' dollar amount route. You all know who I'm talking about.
But, I have to tell you guys that I am quite pleased with Randy at Hyperformance in getting my bottom end all fixed up.
He used R&R Machine to rebuild my crankshaft, and so far, I couldn't be happier. I had Randy also, install a timken bearing and assemble my cases.
Pretty much the same service the 'other' folks offer to guys like me... NON-builders.
I think that R&R is a viable alternative, and guys like Randy, or Steve at GMR can offer a different crankshaft 'package' than what everybody is used to.
The 'proof' will be once the bike is up and running, and I report in whether it is SMOOOOOOTH or not.
People like me, look for someone that can take their whole bottom end... fix it... and send it back, COMPLETE and ready to install.
Randy has done that, and I am quite pleased.
Let the wars begin!!!

I would have to agree with you based on reputation alone. If I ever need bottom end work I know who I am going to call. Can't wait to hear how your build runs. Do you have an idea of when it will be together.

Didn't "seem" squirrelly. Also, think highly of the 'other guy' but I got in and out, and I WANTED a dynamically balanced crank. This may be 'snake oil' might not be either. Who knows yet? You?
Who can say without a doubt, at this point, this kind of crank is a POS? Anyone?

I used John not long ago, and could not have been happier. Good job, fair price, quick service, excellent results...

Wouldn't a person want to make sure something works as promised before endorsing it? Just sayin'

I'm pretty sure there are many qualified shops capable of this service.

That's your one side of the story to a first build.Be a little more modest on your approach. Many people are capable as said before to do the same work. They just don't revolve around this forum.

I doubt anything either of thse two shops do could be considered a POS. Both have good reps and their work should speak for itself..

The name "Darkhorse Crankworks" says what they specialize in.
Cranks.
Beside that, they send us cheese back when we request.
