My 05 TC is getting bad mileage.

I have a 2005 Touring Cruiser and the mileage really is bad and I mean REAL bad. Ranges from a low of 27 mpg up to a high of 35. The bike has a Stage One kit and only 7700 miles on it. It was in a minor wreck before I got it (at around 5500 miles.) Anybody have any ideas what might be the problem? I've cleaned the air filter. Somebody told me that it probably needs to be remapped, but might also have a bad "sensor" of some kind. I'm used to carbureted bikes and this new-fangled computerized control stuff is about to force me to go back to Harleys. My friend Les has an '03 TC and he averages about 45 mpg, so I know what I'm getting isn't normal. Nobody in the rec.motorcycle.victory newsgroup was able to help me, so I'm posting this here in hopes that I'll have better luck. Anybody else have this problem and if so, were you able to fix it and how?

you could have a loose throttle body, if you cracked it up i would check that first if it sucks air your milage will go to hell. also you tps calibration if you cant do yourself the steps are availible on vmc
