2003 V92 Classic suspension

I took a new 2001 V92C for a ride test ride today. I was pretty impressed with the bike except for the ride, which I thought to be a bit hard. The dealer claims it will soften up when the bike breaks in. He also has a 2003 Classic on the floor which he claims will ride better. Any opinions as to the truthfullness of his claims? The Classic is teal and white with saddle bags, sissy bar, windshield and stage 1 pipes for $12,999. Does this sound reasonable for a new, soon to be, 4 year old bike? The 2003 has the newer style engine, which I find attractive.

LOL. *shakes head*

As far as the brand new '03, I would offer $10,000 if that, maybe $9000. It's a three year old bike. Brand new or not. Vics are not holding resale very well. Probably one of the worst at this time.

You'll find a slightly used '03 for $9000 or less. I'd buy a used one but that's just my opinion.

$12,999 for a new '03? IMO that's too high. I paid $12,100 "new" for my '01 Special Edition Deluxe Cruiser at the end of the '02 season, which has all the options you mentioned plus passenger floor boards.

I agree with AZrider, look at some slightly used bikes and save alot of $'s. If you want a new one ... shop around for a better deal. They are out there. '01 and later Vics have been spectacular when it comes to reliability IMO.

Thanks guys, I thought the price to be a bit steep. There is a new 2003 on Walnecks for $9000. It doesent have the saddle bags, but $4000 buys a lot of goodies. Any comments on the suspension? My wife has back problems and the ride is definitely stiff. The Harleys have a better ride. The Victory seemed to be a bit more fun to drive with better instrumentation.

OOOPS! I just re-read Azrider's post. I think my suspension question has been answered. As I get older, the only thing that sinks in fast is my waistline!

Yep, lower that price. As far as the suspension goes, the Classic will never be as smooth as the Kingpin/Vegas derivatives BUT, the Classic is THE best bike Vic made. I have both a 2003 Classic and a 2004 Kingpin and am selling the KP because I can't not ride the Classic.

You won't be disappointed. I bought the KP first, and never understood the Classic rider's fierce loyalty and fanatical attachment until I bought one...

Classic is gear differently too, the OD pulley is a great mod and helps considerably for long distance and highay riding.
