Unhappy 72 Ironhead Oil Line Routing

I am in the final stages of assembling this 72 sporty. I purchased a round oil tank and now have the task of routing the lines. On the bottom of the tank there are two fittings. One is the drain, the other is the feed to the oil pump.My questions are, where does the breather line go to on the engine and where does the return line go to on the engine. There is no oil filter on this bike. thanks.

Welcome to the forum, CIMATRON. I'm sure your thread will be moved to the proper forum soon, but in the meantime, I'll go check my service manual and get back to you. I routed my oil lines on my Ironhead a few months ago, I just have to refresh my mind as to where they all go.

Alright, there should be 3 fittings. One to the pump, one for the vent and one for the return.

Look inside the tank. The fitting without a tube running up goes to the pump, lower right hand side of bike. One of the fittings with a tube goes to the return, which is located sort of behind the sprocket/cam chest cover.

The return line is on top of the case, behind the rear cylinder on the right side. Mine has a 90 degree fitting on it.

The vent line (behind the cam cover) should be a slightly smaller fitting.

PM me if you need pics or anything.

Good luck
