Headlight mounting problems

I have a '02 Road King and it seems like every time you need to do something with the front end, the headlight needs to come off. It is attached by 7 screws that screw into 7 rubber mounted nuts. These nuts last about 2 cycles of off/on. Then they shred or the nuts tear loose from the rubber.

Is there a alternative mounting procedure or aftermarket replacement mounting solution/fix for this problem?

I have my bike serviced every 2,500 miles and the 5,000 and 10,000 service interval removes the headlight resulting in at least two of these fragile nuts being damaged. I would dearly love to replace them with a more dependable mounting system. I assume they are rubber mounted to shock mount the headlight.

They're called well nuts. You can get them at most any hardwear store and they're not very expensive. Take one in and get some new ones of the same size to replace the old. You might have to use a needle nose pliars to get the old ones out or you can just push them through. Then pop in the new ones.

Thanks for the info. I was not aware hardware stores carried them. I actually am looking for a alternate method of mounting the headlight. I am getting tired of replacing the well nuts after some ham fisted mechanic works on my bike.
