NTSB...Please read and respond accordingly!!!

HERE'S A CHANCE TO MAKE YOURSELF HEARD....

Borrowed from Bruce Arnold:

Fellow Freedom Fighters:

The NTSB Public Forum on Motorcycle Safety is scheduled for September
12-13,
2006. Details are available here:

http://www.ntsb.gov/events/symp_moto...cle_safety.htm

Madd Ray Henke of Motorcyclists-Against-Dumb-Drivers.com takes
exception to
NTSB's forum agenda, and has proposed an in-depth "counter-agenda"
here:

http://pub42.bravenet.com/forum/3562.../fetch/731549/

Bruce Arnold has submitted a position paper to the NTSB Forum Chairman,
Deborah A.P. Hersman, which can be downloaded and openly distributed in
PDF
format from here:

http://www.ldrlongdistancerider.com/....com.NTSB1.pdf

The HTML version of this position paper is available here:

http://www.ldrlongdistancerider.com/...srights0610.ph
p

We encourage you to review the NTSB Forum agenda and other information
online, read Madd Ray's counter-agenda and Bruce's position paper, then
respond to the NTSB as you see fit. Their email address is
"motorcycleforum@ntsb.gov".

You can also post your response at Bruce-n-Ray's Biker Forum:

Seems a little early to get upset about this. I suppose 'public awareness and education' is a good thing, although I frankly doubt it would make much difference. I see t-boned cars all the time, so apparently the public isn't very good about seeing large objects coming at them, let alone small ones. Conspicuity probably does help and it would be useful to get a sense of how much -- though as the writer says I wouldn't want the government to legislate safety vests for all. I'd like to see a modern "Hurt" report before we got too much deeper into figuring how to respond to problems we can't quantify.

Wouldn't have made any difference if we did or didn't. When the government has a concern we don't offer our own solutions and self-regulate -- we just offer ranting and whining about lost freedoms. When the government sees it isn't dealing with grown-ups, it does what it wants to do the way it wants to do it.

I agree we shouldnt wait around to see what happens. I'd rather make an effort now (for what ever it's worth).

Although.. I will admit that Bhawk's 2nd comment is so damn "on the money"!
