'07 Street Glide Transmission Problems

Is anyone having transmission problems? At less than 200 miles, my new Street Glide has leaked all transmission fluid and has a grinding fifth gear. I called my dealer from the road and the bike goes into the shop first thing Monday morning. Has anyone had experience in dealing with major problems such as this on a brand new bike?

My guess is that the grinding sound is due to the lack of fluid

Dirty Jim wants to know where he is and how he got here
Its my understanding to improve the bottom line they no longer put fluid in the transmissions.

You would have to a fairly significan't leak to lose 22 ounces of fluid in 200 miles. When I my sifter seal was leaking, didn't lose that much.

My concern is that they would fill it up and say everything is ok.

Does warranty work have to go to who you bought it from? Another dealer might be more inclinded to replace tranny sence he will be paid for warranty work. The dealer you bought it from might not want to admit it.

I have always made the dealer service dept. show me how to check my fluid levels prior to taking delivery of the bike. Its not that I don't know how, I do it to make sure they did their job.

07 transmission leak

fast reply guys! let me start off by saying the trany was full when pick-up from dealer. trany leaked fluid out while on the road. i have fluid all over the back of the bike. The 5th gear was the only one making noise. Notice the trany leaking while getting gas about 70 miles out. called dealer they said drive it home, and bring it in monday.Check transmission when i got home, bone dry! I don`t think I want it just fixed, I want a new transmission installed or another street glide since I only have 200 miles. Sound about right?

It probably has a defective main drive gear seal. I've also seen them blow out of the case when there was excessive pressure. It happened on my 1993 FLHS and it dumped all the oil out in ten miles. The rear belt was soaked.

They owe you a tranny or a rebuild as now the bearings and gear faces are suspect. As you probably know, you have two years, by the way.

Good luck

You need a new tranny at the minimum. The bike is also unsafe to ride (oily back tire?) and should be picked up at the dealers expense. In addition, if you paid for dealer prep, I'd see if I could get that back too. More than justified, IMHO, since you will be waiting some time for your new trans.

If the trans was full at the time of delivery and a seal or something else went bad why should the dealer be compelled to refund the prep? If a new bike is delivered and the oil bag is full and for some reason it kicks a rod with in 200 miles the dealer isn't at fault. It falls under the Sh!t happens warranty work catagory just like the screwed up trans. I agree they should pick it up rather than ride it which is unsafe with a oily back tire.

No problems to date with my 07 SG. The clock just turned 750 on the way home this afternoon. Sure hope it doesn't take long to get it outa the shop. A major problem like that at only 200 really sucks.

Sorry for the bad break. I hope this isn't the first of many '07 break down threads.

leaking

Have you been able to determine the leak location on the out side of the tranny ,drain plug, caseing, trans vent tube? Not that you have to , Im just curious.

Did the oil level in the crankcase get affected? Im not realy sure if it even could cause there seperated. Im just curious.

Please let me know.

So far have seen at least three post in regard to tranny inconsistancy. All on this site.

Any other troubles that you've had?
