I've got a friend (actually it's his Dad's) with a '97 Ultra Classic with only 1300 miles on it and recently while he was driving it, the oil pressure gauge dropped to zero. The dealer has had it for the past couple of weeks and they finally told him that the cam gear that drives the oil pump had broken. They said it was supposed to break, but we don't know what he means by this???
I mentioned to my friend to make sure they find all of the pieces of the gear otherwise they will end up in the bottom end or transmission.
My question is: Does anyone know what would have caused this and/or is it a common problem with the Evo engine?
