I have been a premium member for about 6 months. Best money I have spent. Only one problem. I cannot find anywhere on how to start a new thread. Don't know if it is because I use an Apple computer or Internet Explorer or something else. Any help would be great.

Let me see. Go to for example V-twinforum.com => v-twin: engine mods and in the top left corner just underneath the navigation bar for the various tools, you should see a 'New thread' button. Click it and go from there.

Actually, claydbal, if you think about it for awhile, no one can make anyone do anything on here, or anywhere in real life for that matter. Do you think I can make you post a reply so horrible that you would be banned? It is all in how you process information.

Everyone is responsible for their own actions or re-actions; let's get real serious here for a minute or two. Take the case recently where 2 riders were nearly hit by a truck at an intersection, they chased the truck and gave the driver the finger; I believe then that, they were chased, hit by the truck and one of them was killed. (details sketchy but that's about what happened)

OK, did the act of getting cut off or nearly hit make them chase the truck? And did seeing 2 bikers give him the finger make the driver run them down? No, of course not, they choose to process that information in a certain way and respond with a certain action. I am not defending anyone in that situation, just saying that if the bikers had could have let it go, the truck driver could have let it go, simply by using a thought processing technique.

A simple way to think of it is like this; if someone gives you the finger, but you don't see it, are you offended? No, it is not the actual act of the finger, it is how you process seeing it and then deciding to either ignore it or take offense. It is not about being right or wrong, can anybody understand the concept?
I have seen on here where people have unintentionally posted this smiley :nfu2: because when you first see him, he is smiling and waving, only after a few seconds does the finger appear. Now, does seeing that upset you or are you willing to give it some thought and think about how you are processing your thoughts?

Now, watching members getting banned on here is about the same; you can usually see it happen like slow motion. There are many options available to avoid this, including ignore the ignorance by not replying, use the delete post option if you reply in haste or things are heating up.

That's my worth out of my $15; getting off the soapbox now, over to you to reply, or not

PS - A last thought, why would being a paid member or not, make any difference to whether or not, this could happen? someone lurse me into getting banned.

Sorry man, but I had to LMAO at the concept of getting "lured" in to getting banned. I guess if someone is "trolling" they could be trying to do that. Reading some threads is a lot like watching a train wreck. It's horrifying and repulsive but you just can't turn away - and you d@mn sure don't want to get in the middle of it.

Your $15 bux says you appreciate the knowledge and comradery you find at the VTF.

Nothing in life is free. David Price runs the VTF as a labor of love but love doesn't pay the bills. Sponsors help and appreciative members help.

Will it stop you from getting banned? Nope. But as long as you are aware of the 6 rules (spelled out in the faq) and treat people with the respect you like to receive the chances of getting banned are next to nil.

regards,

wyo

ps - oh yeah, I think you can post pics in the members gallery, see attched pics, and use an avatar. There may be a few other functional bennies. Mainly it's a show of support on your part.

Nothing personal, but you can go ahead and cancel my account. I' don't see the point in payin' to view things here, some of which i contributed. Was workin' on a photo diary of my shovel rebuild to post here. but i'm not postin' it some place that's gonna try and make a buck from it, or anything else i post. you got a cool site here, but i'm gimped up on a fixed income, so i'll take a pass.

You're not paying to "view things here". Premium members acknowledge that (1) nothing is free and (2) they enjoy the VTF enough to help support it.

I'm sorry to hear that being on a fixed income has gimped you up.

Good luck with your photo diary.
