Dirty Jim is an unknown quantity at this point
Radar detector

Anyone using the HD brand by Escort, they had to replace the hydraulic clutch line today so I had them slap one on. I like to run above eighty on the big roads, so if it saves me one time its worth the greenbacks.

Be careful not to get run down {by drivers that don't have them} going into some construction zones.

I watch the trucks, if they are slow theres a cop about.

rpbrock, to answer your pm I thought I would answer it here. I went to autozone and bought the cheap plastic cigarrette lighter plug and trimed it to fit between the speedo and tack and ran it straight to the battery. and on the mount I got it a J & P ( i wanted the chrome but they were BO) also I didnt take a picture of it but between the plate and the detector is a heavy duty type velco , i got it at I believe Boaters World.

Like I said before I dont hear it but with the "smart plug" I can see it flashing.

pretty slick setup... I'm going to look into that on my DWG. I've had two Escorts but the last one I bought is about 6-7 years old and I probably should upgrade by now. I just got busted in Addison last week in my truck and the cops there are using mostly Laser. Mine detects it but probably not as good as one of the newer models with more tech built into it.

Thanks Capt.... gave me some ideas.

Good advice. My advice is just wait for a rabbit and follow at a safe distance.

If the officer is aiming the conventional radar or laser at you there is not detector that will save you. By the time you hear the beep it is too late. The whole idea with radar detectors is that you pick up stray signals aimed at someone else to give you early warning to slow down. With laser there is little to no stray signal so it wont give you much if any warning.

I've been using one on my Road Glide for 10,000 miles and it's saved my ass more than once. I have also used an Escort in the car for years and wouldn't drive without one.
