fuel gauge warranty
I have an 04 Heritage EFI and the fuel gauge just started reading full all the time. Is this covered under warranty or is there an easy fix? Thanks for any help.

I have a 03 FLSTCI and had the same problem when new. The dealer fixed it and said it's a problem with them. I bought mine from Ben Breece HD in ottawa, Ohio. I just mentioned that because i noticed your in Ohio. Can't beat them for always selling for MSRP and service at a very affordable price, just make an apointment and they'll fix it while you wait.
good luck and ride safe.
I'm off to breece for my 15,000 miles service.

My fuel gauge on my '05 started reading full all the time shortly after I got it last December. Dealer fixed it w/no quarrel. Was told it is a common problem, the float gets stuck at the top of the tank, and the way to reduce continuing problems with it don't top off the tank.

IMO, they're putting the blame on the consumer and not fixing the problem. I fill my tank and expect the gauge to work within reason (although I use the trip odometer to determine when I need gas).

It should be covered under warranty as long as you haven't done anything to void it, like ride the bike

My gas gauge stuck on full last winter. Still is. May or may not get it fixed before warranty runs out. I just set the trip at fillup.

Just got off the phone with the dealer and they said they will fix it under warranty but can't get it in until Aug. Asked him if there is a problem with these and he said we get a few of them come in to get repaired. Thanks for the responses.

My wife's Deluxe had the same problem. I just lifted out the float for the sending unit and tweaked it away from the side of the tank. Didn't feel like taking it to the dealer and they told me that is what they do. It's been working ever since.

Get a few of them???? Do a search. More of 'em don't work than do. Most people have just decided to live with it.
My fuel gauge hasn't worked since the 2nd fillup nor does the low fuel indicator light. Always reset the trip meter.
This is a known problem. Poor quality & service.

I don't see why it wouldn't be, your warranty is 2 years unlimited miles.

No, its not, if you replaced the gauge with a Gen-U-Wine HD LED gauge.
Your warranty just went from 2 years to 90 days on parts - even if installed by the stealer. Only exception is if the stealer installs the part prior to delivery.

Your profile shows that your bike is a 2005 model. They are covered for 2 years and unlimited milegae. Wouldn't it be wise to take it in and have the dealer fix the fuel gauge? That's what I would do if mine weren't working. There's no need to live with a defect that can be fixed free.

In theory I agree with you. However, when I had it in for my 1k (which was free), they looked at it, and thought they fixed it. It never budged off full. I do most of my own service and don't really like the idea of some of these techs screwing around with my tank. I'll be due for a tire soon so I'll probably have them "fix it" again.
This is a quality issue. MOCO should address the root cause.

Well since you do most of your own work, I would remove the float and do a little bending. This is probably the cause. If it's not then it might be something expensive. The same thing happens on Honda Goldwings as far as accuracy goes. Have to bend the floats.
Fortunately my gauge works. I don't ever rely on it, though. I prefer to go by mileage.
Good luck.
